Envoy Acclaim® Cochlear Implant Update

Please rate the post or song (not the recording) or video if it is a performance, or the post if it is not a performance. If it is encouraging I will be more motivated. Thanks 🙂

I am pleased to be able to report that my comprehension continues to improve. I have been spending more time practicing the piano and I believe that is helping quite a bit. Noisy environments are still a challenge but I can definitely understand noticeably better without my left ear hearing aid and even when people are not looking at me and speaking.

On another note, I have been developing my own cochlear implant training application. As I do most development on Linux, that’s where I am doing the testing and it will be the first version available. I will, however, produce Windows, Android and iOS apps if there is enough interest. While I don’t want to “get rich” off this app, I would like to be reimbursed for my time (at least some of it), if I can.

I am not, at least presently, making the program multilingual.

There are a number of settings and features that can be tailored to the way you want to use it and it also has a learning feature where it will adjust it’s training model based on its assessment of your progress.

Think of it as having a sound booth aural testing system, like the one you experience when you have your hearing evaluated, modified to actually train your hearing while at the same time evaluating your progress.

If you have an interest, please indicate your level of interest on this page. I realize this isn’t that easy as you don’t really know what it is going to do or how it is going to work. Also, it may work for some and not for others – it’s meant to help train, not test, and is not “calibrated”. I don’t believe that’s necessary to help train for real world environments.

Thanks for your interest. If I get any responses, I will post a screen capture once I have finalized the beta user interface.
