Just a brief note to say that yesterday I realized I was catching up on the Iranian situation without captions on the TV. Then I started to watch a Robert Duvall movie, also without captions before switching to a British detective episode.
I managed, at a guess, 80% – 85% or better comprehension without captions and making a conscious effort to not lipread. Regardless of the lip reading issue, I have not been able to do that, watch TV without captions, for years.
As is my method, I then took my left hearing aid out and tried to watch the program without captions and just relying on my implant. I’m not quite there yet, but I would say it is close.
I also noticed, while out maintaining the orchard, that bird sounds were becoming much more natural sounding.
Today I am 7 weeks and 3 days post activation. I think I am probably in the “normal” category.
