About 3 years ago, I had to stop practicing the piano because of 3 surgeries I had on my right hand.
About 6 years ago I extracted myself from playing in worship and classic rock bands because my hearing was deteriorating to such an extent it made participation in team performance very frustrating. After brief attempt at joining a new worship team in 2022, I quit again, believing it would be permanent, and expecting to just play acoustic gigs on my own, which I have been doing at a couple of local restaurants. Plus I played in the 2025 Tennessee Songwriter’s Week qualifying rounds.
Today, just 10 days after having my cochlear implant switched on, I am going to try once again to play as part of a band / team. I don’t know how that is going to go but we will see,
Additionally, the implant has so much improved my hearing that I believe I may be able to make some recordings again, probably re-recording some of the songs already posted too as they were made and mixed by me with very limited hearing. So keep an eye out. I have a few new songs and a number of old ones that are not recorded yet…
