Robert Heller Originals

As mentioned elsewhere, my first association with a musical instrument was with a piano, at school when was 7 or 8 (I think). That lasted about 3 months. Next came an acoustic guitar when I was 14 or 15. Being rather arrogant, I decided I could write my own songs and have been doing so ever since.

Here are some original tunes I’ve written over the years. Most of these are just scratch recordings to see what different arrangements would sound like.

I am gradually creating separate pages for each song with lyrics and / or lead sheets and recordings. There are a number of songs that I simply cannot play any longer. Some of them I have recordings for, some not. As I create individual pages / posts, there will be no players on this page, just look under the Robert Heller Originals menu option as it will have drop down pages.

This will never be an “exhaustive” list of original songs. There are many that I never recorded and don’t recall and still more that, in my opinion, are not worth recording, or sharing.

Yes, they are all copyright and you do not have permission to copy or distribute them and they are copyright registered and I am a member of BMI. If you want to use one of them, contact me.

Getting Old

Getting Old (c) 2008 Robert Heller (BMI)

Getting Old, the song above, is a tongue in cheek look at getting old. The rough cut above was meant to sound hectic / chaotic and I think that was accomplished but it’s not the best recording / mix. All instrumentation is me, except for the midi drums. This recording was made a while ago and the way I play the song now has changed somewhat. When I get a chance to record the update (hopefully as a music video), I will post that.

Psalm 63

This is a song based on Psalm 63. I think this song was written, and this recording was made, circa 2006 or 2007. We all live through difficult times, this was one of mine. As with a lot of my own songs I play this one a little differently today, a little slower and sometimes just on the piano. One day, hopefully, I’ll make a new recording of it with strings…one never knows.
